Please be aware that there have been several changes to the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS).
Made on the 28th of March 2023, recent changes to the GVMS system mean that ATA and TIR carnet customs documents will be inspected prior to arrival at the ferry port or Eurotunnel terminal.
Hauliers will not be able to travel if they haven't been to an Inland Border Facility.
Inland border facility (IBF) inspections will validate the following information:
- References for all the goods contained in the vehicle, trailer or container
- Your goods movement reference (GMR) for moving goods out of the UK under ATA or TIR carnets, or for paper Single Administrative Document (SAD) declarations at Goods Vehicle Movement Service locations
Hauliers must also follow instructions to find out if you need to get your goods checked by customs on arrival, or if you’re able to continue your journey.
