Brittany Ferries have released a statement saying a restriction will be in force on the 6th June 2019 to prohibit the movement of HGVs of more than 7.5 tonnes during the commemorative ceremonies of the 75th anniversary of the D-DAY Landings.
It will cover the entire Calvados road network (including the port of Caen) during the day of the 6th June in order to avoid unnecessary traffic build-up and preserve safety. This will allow the movement of the official motorcades and ensure access for the participants to the locations of the ceremonies.
More than 2 million remembrance tourists are expected to retrace Captain Leslie Skinner’s footsteps and those of the other 156,000 Allied troops who landed on the beaches.
